Mystery Creek Community Catchment hui
22/11/2023
In November, the Society held a hui at Mystery Creek Events Centre, to bring together community stakeholders; including local iwi, businesses, government agencies, and schools. The purpose of the hui was to collaboratively share ideas for the Mystery Creek Community Catchment area.
Over the past year, the Society's community environmental projects have flourished and expanded, intertwining with one another along the way. The Mystery Creek Community Catchment brings all the individual projects together under one banner to streamline the process of acquiring resources.
The hui was well-attended, with an engaged audience who discussed a range of topics including goal setting with a three-year timeline, education programmes for the youth, resources available, and prospects.
The Society would like to thank Ric from NZ Landcare Trust, Vanessa and Tamlyn from the Environmental Protection Authority, and Ben from Aotearoa Restoration for their invaluable assistance in facilitating the meeting.
We'd also like to extend thanks to everyone who has helped us along our journey. These amazing businesses have shown commitment to coming together for a greater purpose, and we are truly grateful for the teams at Hamilton Airport, LIC, Tomra, Tieke Golf Estate, JetPark Hotel, Hamilton Pistol Club, Claas, and John Roberts Contracting.
The hui was about collectively building an action plan for our Mystery Creek Community Catchment, which will form our vision, mission, and strategic goals. We came together as a community to contribute our skills and experiences to create a legacy we can be proud of, one that promotes sustainability and enhances the area for future generations.
