Strong support for major fundraising dinner and debate
The organisers of the first ever Rural Support Trust and National Fieldays fundraising dinner have been overwhelmed by the generosity of sponsors and the high level of those keen to attend what is hoped will become an annual event.
Organiser Mike Green said demand for Rural Support is growing with last year 2100 cases logged outside the Adverse Event calls.
“Additional funds will mean we can reach even more people and reduce the stress and lower the suicide risk that often comes from working on your own in rural areas.
With so many people already in the Waikato for the highly successful National Fieldays it made sense for us to create an event that benefited the rural sector but also gave added value to those already in attendance.”
Mike Green said this year’s event will feature a fun debate between a team led for the North Island by Julia Jones, GM Agri Women’s Development Trust, and for the South Island by MP James Meager, with the topic being: ‘The grass is greener in the South Island’.
More than 500 guests are expected and people are also encouraged to go online at https://app.galabid.com/rst2025 (live from Wednesday 28 May) for some highly attractive auction prizes.
All money raised will go to Rural Support.
