How it works
Participants are judged on a mix of finesse, speed, and safety awareness. The judging criteria include:
- Precision challenges: Tasks like opening a beer bottle, slam-dunking a basketball, or digging exact trenches.
- Job planning: How well operators scope and plan a site.
- Safety awareness: Strict adherence to site safety rules and operational best practices
Operators, split into open, women's, and under-18 divisions, compete in regional heats at Fieldays to qualify for the National Excavator Operator Competition finals
