Super Saturday is coming to Fieldays
Fieldays is once again proving to be a family favourite as thousands of visitors have already descended on Mystery Creek to experience everything that the Southern Hemisphere’s iconic celebration of farming, food and rural entertainment offers.
“This event has always been about bringing town and country together,” says New Zealand National Fieldays Society Head of Customer and Strategic Engagement Taryn Storey.
“Fieldays is a chance for those in the rural community to take time off-farm and for people from nearby towns and cities to experience rural life”.
Already underway is the crowd favourite Fieldays Tractor Pull competition, in association with PTS Logistics. The event is celebrating 50 years of rivalry, and crowds have been making most of the riverside viewing and the Little George Pop-Up Bar by Hamilton-based brewers Good George. The grand final is taking place tomorrow, from 8 am to 1:30 pm.
The new-to-Fieldays Red Bull Cut It lawn mower racing track, located on site Q1 next to the Heavy Equipment area, is proving to be a crowd favourite, with New Zealand Lawn Mower Racing Association competitors demonstrating their racing machines. The team from Red Bull are also running a spin the wheel, to let fate (and the clippers) decide on the spinner’s new haircut!
The contestants are gearing up to take to the track tomorrow from around 10am for a time trial, joker lap races, Le Mans style race and a team’s race with pit stops.
The Heritage Village is a must for families, offering an interactive exhibit of Waikato’s rich history. There you’ll find a quaint small-town garage, a classic schoolhouse, a vintage hospital, and a blacksmith's forge. Stroll through New Zealand’s dairy story at the Dairy Museum.
For those with loads of energy, climb to new heights on the rock wall, take a ride on the safari train, test your aim with axe throwing, and jump on the inflatables.
Food lovers are in for a treat too. New Zealand’s best artisan producers are showcasing their products in the nearby Fieldays Pantry, where they can sample everything from locally made cheeses and chutneys to sipping and sampling boutique wines and ginger beers.
For those ready for lunch, there are more than 50 food trucks serving everything you can think of. We’re talking hotdogs, hearty feeds, sweet treats, and even the fancy stuff.
“We’re thrilled to see so many families getting involved, whether they are here to look at the latest products and innovations or just enjoy a day out with family and friends,” says Storey.
Storey added that they are looking forward to kicking off Super Saturday. The campaign encourages exhibitors to deliver great prices and exclusive Fieldays-only offers.
“Saturday is the day to celebrate, wrap up any last-minute business and shopping endeavours, and celebrate with friends and family,” says Storey.
To plan your visit, download the Fieldays App (from Google Play and the App store), use the interactive map, pin your car and look for useful things like your favourite exhibitors, water stations and food courts.
