New lead sponsor gears up for 50th Fieldays® Tractor Pull
27 November 2024
PTS Logistics, a member of the PTS Group, is the new lead sponsor for Fieldays® Tractor Pull, coinciding with the annual competition's 50th-anniversary celebration. With over 40 years of experience in agricultural machinery transportation throughout New Zealand, PTS brings valuable expertise to support this iconic event. As one of the most popular attractions at Fieldays®, Tractor Pull provides four days of entertainment from June 11-14, 2025, at Mystery Creek in Hamilton. Heats will take place from Wednesday to Friday, with finals on Saturday.
Tractor pulling traces its roots back to the 1860s when farmers tested their horses' strength in pulling competitions, later evolving to tractors as they became more widely used. Since its introduction at Fieldays in 1975 it has remained a crowd favourite. Thanks to PTS, sponsors Corson Maize and Giltrap AgriZone, and the organising team including the Central Tractor Pull Club and passionate volunteers, entries for the 2025 competition will open early next year.
With a strong history of working alongside the rural and agricultural sectors, PTS will play a key role in supporting Fieldays Tractor Pull by making the transportation of tractors to the event more feasible and contributing funds to enhance the program. Like Fieldays, PTS is proudly 100% Kiwi-owned and operated and led by owner Scott Miers, and has 18 depots across New Zealand with a fleet of 400 trucks and 500 trailers.
This relationship opens exciting new opportunities, particularly for entrants further away who may have faced transport challenges in getting their vehicles to the event. It also paves the way for more Modified Tractors to join the competition, including larger varieties. The Modified Tractors category caters to those with non-standard machines, including pre-1985 models and custom-built vehicles.
Miers, commenting on his company’s participation said; "PTS are thrilled to support the Tractor Pull. We are always keen to celebrate agriculture and machinery which has been our bread and butter for many years. We are looking forward to fostering strong connections with the competitors by providing safe and responsible transport.”
Marie Rechner, venue operations manager at the New Zealand National Fieldays Society, and a co-organiser of the competition, expressed excitement about working with PTS, saying; “We are thrilled to welcome PTS to our family of supporters. Their sponsorship is invaluable, offering new transport options for entrants and providing the resources needed to help make this milestone event a memorable celebration.”
