FIELDAYS READY TO ROLL WITH GOOD WEATHER AND PLENTY TO SEE
It’s all go at Mystery Creek, with Fieldays kicking off tomorrow. Exhibitors are putting the finishing touches on their sites today, and around the wider Waikato, accommodation is stretched to capacity, a sure sign that Fieldays week has well and truly arrived.
After months of planning, the gates are just about ready to open, welcoming thousands of visitors for four days of good conversations, great gear, and a closer look at what’s new in the agricultural and primary industries.
“There is something for everyone, whether you’re here to learn, watch, relax, or just have a good look around, there’s plenty to get stuck into,” says Brett Beagley, General Manager of Commercial and Marketing at the New Zealand National Fieldays Society.
If you are looking for the latest innovations, your first stop is the Fieldays Innovation Hub, home to this year’s Innovation Awards with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Or if you need advice or a good yarn with a sector expert, drop into the Fieldays Rural Advocacy Hub or swing by Fieldays Tent Talks, in association with the University of Waikato.
For those who like a bit of action, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. The Fieldays Tractor Pull, in association with PTS Logistics, is always a crowd favourite, while the Excavator and Fencing Competitions demonstrate skill and a bit of friendly rivalry.
If you’re needing a breather after all that, head over to the Fieldays Hauora Taiwhenua Health & Wellbeing Hub for a quick check-up or a bit of downtime. Or take a wander through the Fieldays Creative Space and check out the rural art on display, a chance to enjoy the storytelling and humour that artist David Henshaw is so well known for.
And if that still doesn’t fill your day, there are more than 1,115 exhibitors across 1,335 sites to explore right across the site, with plenty of Fieldays specials and good finds along the way. However you do it, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your time at Fieldays.
“A bit of planning will go a long way,” adds Beagley. “Have a think about how you’re getting here before you set off, check out our transport options, including the free buses, give yourself a bit of extra time, and use the NZTA Journey Planner. You can also download the Fieldays App to help map out your day and find your way around once you’re on site,” he says.
And if there was ever a week to be outdoors, this might just be it. The forecast is looking settled, with a run of fine winter days expected, ideal for covering some ground, catching up with people, and making the most of everything on offer.
“Good weather, a full site, and plenty happening, it’s lining up to be a great few days,” says Beagley. “Grab your family and mates and come along.”
