Farming is a New Zealand success story and Hyundai celebrates this success through their 9 year sponsorship of Hyundai Country Calendar – NZ’s longest running TV show. It’s a show that as Kiwis we have come to know and love, and look forward to every Sunday night.
It’s a celebration of the farmers, the early risers and the weather watchers. From grass growers to cash croppers, high-country musterers to roadside honesty-boxers. A raft of innovators with the never-say-die Kiwi attitude, who turn adversity into opportunity, and who play such a critical role in making this country what it is today.
Hyundai New Zealand’s commitment to supporting the rural sector doesn’t stop with Country Calendar. They’ve been attending National Fieldays since 2004, and in 2012 they made a further commitment by becoming a partner of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society. You’ll also see them every year at other regional Field Days and A&P Shows around the country.
As a 100% Kiwi owned business, their support of New Zealand organisations and communities doesn’t stop there. They use Fieldays and many of their other sponsorships to give back. For years they gifted a tree to customers who purchased at Fieldays, and this year customers get to choose a charity that Hyundai will make a $50 donation to on their behalf. The New Zealand charities included are the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, Westpac Rescue, Barnardos, Sustainable Coastlines, St John, Spirit of Adventure Trust, and Women’s Refuge.
For over a decade, Hyundai has helped empower young New Zealanders to reach their full potential through the challenge of the sea. Through their partnership with Spirit of Adventure Trust, a not-for-profit organisation, 9000 trainees have experienced the 10-day Youth Development voyage.
They’re also helping the up-and-coming youth of today with their Pinnacle Programme, a unique scholarship and mentoring programme that gives talented young New Zealanders the foundations for success in their chosen field, to be our future generation of leaders.
Leaders in eco-mobility
Leading the way is something Hyundai themselves strive for. The locally owned distributor is a thought-leader when it comes to electric vehicles and alternative fuel technologies that produce zero emissions. New Zealand was one of the first countries in the world to bring in the IONIQ and Kona Electric, both of which have become award-winning. The Kona Electric was first revealed to the New Zealand public at Mystery Creek in 2018, and last year Hyundai New Zealand showcased the country’s first hydrogen powered fuel cell electric vehicle, NEXO, using an aquaponics farm display at Fieldays to demonstrate that its only emissions are air and water.
Response to COVID-19
Hyundai New Zealand are immensely proud to be local, and are thankful for their loyal customers, which they demonstrated during COVID-19 with various customer-focussed initiatives.
In response to the COVID-19 lockdown, they partnered with the Student Volunteer Army by providing vehicles throughout the country so that volunteers could deliver groceries to the elderly, healthcare workers and the medically vulnerable.

Thanks to Hyundai ‘Dr Tom’ will be hosting a series of ‘talks’ on Fieldays Online Live/TV, sharing with viewers some of his ‘Walk the Talk’ stories from his travels meeting farmers around the countryside. Dr Tom’s intentions with ‘Walk the Talk’ is to hear what farmers have to say, provide some tools to measure, monitor and motivate health and wellbeing, and connect other farmers in the area into this discussion in their community.
