Agritech Unleashed at Fieldays 2019

Agritech New Zealand, in association with Fieldays, and with the generous sponsorship of the Ministry of Primary Industries, are proud to present Agritech Unleashed.

On Thursday 13 June, five major presentations will take place in the Bledisloe Function Centre at during Fieldays. The events are free to attend with your Fieldays ticket, however seating is limited, so we encourage you to book your seat to  so you don’t miss out. Reservations are per session, limited to a choice of two at this time, you can be added to the waitlist for other sessions.

Sessions:

9.00am–9.45am: Preview of the New Zealand Agritech Story
Agritech New Zealand has been developing the New Zealand Agritech Story with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise over the past six months. This is your opportunity to understand and hear about New Zealand Agritech’s competitive advantage.

10.15am–11.00am: Preview of a New Zealand Agritech Venture Fund
Connected capital is a critical part of any innovation ecosystem. Listen to what is happening in New Zealand and how we are planning to address this significant issue.

11.30am–12.15pm: The formal New Zealand launch of Farm2050’s Nutrient Initiative
The three-year Farm2050 Nutrient Initiative is designed to validate new technologies in nutrient analysis, delivery, efficient uptake, and environmental mitigation. Learn how New Zealand will be taking a leading role in this initiative.

1.30pm–2.15pm: How the 2019 NZ Aerospace Challenge is supporting sustainable farming
Twenty companies are developing a product or service that detects, monitors or measures water or soil pollution using the very latest satellite and unmanned aircraft (UA) technology. Learn how New Zealand is leading the world in this space.

2.45pm–3.30pm: What is the new ‘All-of-Government’ Agritech taskforce doing to support the Agritech sector
At this session, David Downs, the new ‘all of government’ Agritech task-force lead, will focus on the initiatives under discussion and how they are being designed to support and scale New Zealand’s Agritech sector

Based in San Francisco, as Head of Digital Innovation at John Deere, Alexey has been tasked with building the world’s leading digital platform for precision agriculture.

Arama Kukutai: Co-founder & Managing Director of Finistere Ventures

Arama spent his formative years in South Taranaki’s dairy sector, today, based in San Diego, Arama co-founded Finistere Ventures and has led the creation of Finistere’s global network which includes offices in Tel Aviv, San Diego and Silicon Valley, and Dublin, Ireland.

Richard O’Gorman: Director, Rabobank Food & Agriculture Innovation Fund

Based in the Netherlands, Richard focuses on Rabobank’s international F&A venture capital and private equity activities. Richard serves on several Investment and Advisory Boards for Rabobank’s portfolio of F&A funds and is closely in their F&A innovation activities.

Sara Ahmed-Holman: Investment Analyst, Innovation Endeavor & Farm 2050

Innovation Endeavor’s investment and portfolio support teams are located in three major regions of innovation: Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv, and New York City. Based in Palo Alto, Sara co-wrote the Farm2050 Nutrient white paper and will be keynoting this session at Agritech Unleashed.

Michael Levin: Founder & Managing Director, Germin8

Based in Chicago, Michael founded Germin8 Ventures, a venture capital fund seeking to improve the global food system and is innovative in its own right, providing both investment and strategic resources to the exceptional founders of transformative food and Agritech companies around the world.

Han Chen: CEO of Zeakal

ZeaKal, Inc. is a next generation trait technology company, focusing on increasing the photosynthetic capacity of plants. Today, based in San Diego, Han Chen has just signed a major global R&D partnership with Corteva Agriscience, the agriculture division of Dow DuPont.
