Eligibility
- All entries must be original work, designed and created by the entrant. The organisers have the right to disqualify any entry at their discretion if, in their opinion, the entrant’s design is not genuinely their work or if it encroaches on the intellectual property rights of another party.
- The entered garment, in any part or a variation of, must be a unique creation designed and created solely to compete in the New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays Ag Art Wear competition. The garment, in any part or variation of, is not permitted to have been previously entered in any other competition with the exception of the official category winners of the following associated competitions;
- Elmore & District Machinery Field Days, Elmore, VIC, Australia
- Dowerin GMW Machinery Field Days, WA, Australia
- Entry does not guarantee the design’s inclusion in the Ag Art Wear shows presented during Fieldays 2012. Only finalists selected during preliminary judging will progress to inclusion in the show. Up to 60 finalists will be selected.
- Entries are welcome from both New Zealand and overseas designers.
- Entries are not permitted to have appeared in any print publications or online in New Zealand.
- Judges reserve the right to reassign designs to another category at their discretion. No correspondence will be entered into.
Entry Process
Completed entry form, fully paid entry fee and completed garment must be received at the Fieldays office by 5pm on the entry deadline date; Wednesday 16 May 2012. Late entries will not be accepted. Entry fees are non-refundable refundable unless unsuccessful entry is from an entrant (aged under 21) through their secondary/tertiary educational organisation. Applies to all categories.

Judging
Preliminary judging will take place on 23 May 2012. Up to 60 finalists will be selected for inclusion in the Fieldays Ag Art Wear shows which take place during the Fieldays event, held on 13-16 June 2012 at Mystery Creek Events Centre, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
Final judging will take place at the Fieldays event. The Awards Presentation will take place at 2pm, Friday 15 June 2012 at the Ag Art Wear Pavilion on E Street, Mystery Creek Events Centre, Mystery Creek Road, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Requirements
- Detailed fitting and wearing instructions including clear front and back photos (not drawings) must be included with the garment. Include a list of all components of the design including any accessories, head wear and footwear. All instructions must be typed on white A4 paper.
- Any accessory including footwear accompanying the design must also be made from agriculturally or naturally sourced materials as specified by the relevant category and be supplied by the entrant, along with instructions on wearing/handling the accessory.
- Include clear, full length photographs (front and back) of the garment being worn by a model (i.e. yourself) for reference
- Garments must be packaged in a durable, fully enclosed box or container to reduce the risk of damage during transportation/storage. Both the packaging and the garment must be clearly labelled with the designer’s name and garment title.
- Include a small repair kit with spare materials to manage any patch up requirements which may occur over the course of the event. Please note: The garments’ construction and durability is part of the judging criteria.
- Garments made of perishable materials (i.e. plant materials, foods) must be treated to enhance durability or a suitable maintenance plan including personal attention from the designer must be included in the garment instructions.
- Garments will be paraded in the choreographed shows by professional models engaged by Fieldays. Models will supply their own undergarments including neutral coloured g-string underwear if required.
- The garment must be safe to handle and to wear. No sharp, itchy or scratchy materials are to be used. If electrically wired for lights or audio effects, wiring must comply with New Zealand standards and be safe and easy to use.
- Headwear must be safe to wear, well balanced and able to be secured comfortably to the model’s head.
- The model’s vision must not be obscured. Designs must allow the model to see clearly.
- Commercial and traditional fasteners are permissible but must not be visible.
Size Restrictions
Garments for female models must be made to fit New Zealand women’s size 8 or 10.
Garments for male models must be made to fir New Zealand men’s size M or L.
Maximum dimensions:
- Height: 2.4m
- Width: 1.4m at floor level
- Length: 3m
- Weight: no weight restriction, however the garments weight must be realistically able to be worn, evenly spread across the body and the garment must include accessories i.e. wheels if required to distribute weight away from the body
Entrant information
The entrant agrees that Fieldays may publicise the entrant’s name and region of origin for competition promotion purposes.
The entrant agrees that Fieldays will make available entrants’ details to media for the purposes of the Ag Art Wear competition.
Post-Fieldays Collection
Garments must be collected from the Fieldays office by 22 June 2012.
Garments uncollected after the collection deadline 22 June 2012 will become the property of the organisers and may be disposed of or recycled as required.
Contact the Fieldays office prior to arrival to arrange collection. Post-Fieldays office hours: 8.30am-5pm Sunday 17 June – Friday 22 June 2012.
Insurance
Insurance of the garment is the sole responsibility of the entrant. The organisers will not be liable for any damage to or loss of any garment or accessory.
Design Retention Rights
New Zealand National Fieldays Society, as organisers of the Ag Art Wear competition, reserves the right to;
- Advertise the Ag Art Wear competition and competition garments.
- Take photographs of the garments, film rehearsals and performances of Ag Art Wear shows in which the garments feature. All photographic and video material remains the property of New Zealand National Fieldays Society and may be used for promotional and marketing purposes at any time in any print publication, internet forum, and/or broadcast medium. Where possible, acknowledgement will be made of the designer, the title of the garment and the year of its involvement in the Ag Art Wear competition.
- Hold a garment for up to 12 months following the close of the 2012 Fieldays event. Garments may be required for promotional purposes including exhibitions, photographic sessions, historic display and/or teaching sessions. Garments not required for post-event activities are required to be collected by the collection deadline; Friday 22 June 2012.
- Require the designer to supply the garment for promotional purposes upon request by the New Zealand National Fieldays Society. If required, all transportation costs shall be at the expense of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society.
- Have first option to purchase any garment if it becomes available.
- Re-create (in any part or its entirety) a garment at any time for promotional and marketing purposes, including exhibitions, photographic sessions, historic display and/or teaching sessions.
- Restrict designers from selling, disposing of or recycling garments without the express permission of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society to preserve historically important and/or iconic designs if required.
- Restrict designers from entering the garment into any other competition at their discretion. Designers must attain the approval of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society prior to entering the garment into any another competition.
