Fieldays Rural Bachelor Best of the Best

Congratulations to Mat Sherriff who proved he still has what it take to be the best of the best!

Mat Sherriff
2003 People's Choice winner and 2011 Best of the Best winner

Occupation: Farm owner/manager

Region: Te Awamutu

Age: 32

Marital Status: Committed relationship

Why should you be the 2011 Fieldays Rural Bachelor Best of the Best? I feel I am a much more rounded person than I was in 2003, I have better farming and life skills, and I feel that I was robbed at the last try, this time I need to go one better.
Explain a typical day in your job: Get up at 6:20am, change and wake up the young fulla, feed him breakfast, then send him off to day-care with Mum. Around 7:30am head out the door, check and shift stock till around lunch. Do farm maintenance after lunch; I fence, tractor work, feed out etc.

What do you consider are your best professional rural skills? Feed budgeting and stock handling skills, financial planning, general hard work and fencing.

Describe your lovely lady: She’s the perfect woman (she’s looking over my shoulder so I can’t say anything else!). She is a dentist in Te Awamutu working for Paul Kay Dental, so if you need a teeth clean go and see her. Need to keep me in the lifestyle I’ve become accustomed too.
