Fieldays NZ Wire / Wiremark Fencing Championships
Congratulations to the 2011 Fencing Champs. A huge congrats to Paul van Beers who has won the Golden Pliers a record 13 times!
Fencing is not for the faint-hearted. To compete, you’ll need endurance and fitness, as competitions can take as long as 6 hours, with contestants attempting to complete a 40 metre fence.
Fencing has become a large part of the farming tradition, especially at Fieldays. You can be sure that at the New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays, the latest fencing techniques are being used.

Fencing Demo Area
The demonstrations area is dedicated to those wanting to learn more about fencing –an area not-to-be missed, for all you need to know about fences! Located opposite the fencing area, feature demonstrations show an array of fencing techniques used in rural areas. Experienced professionals will host the demonstrations area, presenting the latest in fencing technology. An assortment of fences will be assembled to show the variety of fences that can be utilised on the farm.

Golden Pliers: Solo event
Silver Spades: Enter as a pair. The required fence for the Silver Spades competition differs each year to keep up with the most recent developments in fencing.
Bill Schuler Trophy: Event for upcoming fencers
The fencing competition has been a fixture at Fieldays since 1969. The competition and the Golden Pliers have become a part of New Zealand’s rural history. Visit the Fencing Championships this year and experience the skill of Paul van Beers, well known in the farming industry for winning the Golden Pliers a record 12 times.
