OnFarm Solutions have developed the Teatwand automatic teat spray system for rotary dairies to help control spread of mastitis. The Teatwand automatic teat-sprayer mimics the action of a person manually spraying teats with its spray wand which moves under the udder and provides consistent coverage of all four teats. It has been developed with safety in mind as the spray arm comprises a flexible spring which deflects out of the way if it accidentally contacts a cows leg or milking equipment. The Teatwand comes with a push button control box which gives complete control over the movement of the teat wand and spray action. The end result is reduced clinical mastitis and reduced Somatic Cell Counts. The savings in labour and reduced mastitis means that the Teatwand will pay for itself in its first year of operation.
